Meet Macig Sandy & Cheyanne
‘Quincy’ retired from racing in March 2023 after a short racing career on the track and ended up with the Bridge family through their friendship with Tina Williams, who bred, started and raced the filly.
Quincy’s new rider Cheyanne was only starting to learn riding when they first met earlier this year. Together they have learned so much in a relatively short time and continue to improve constantly. Their first outing is not too far away!
What stood out during our photo shoot was the love Cheyanne has for Quincy and vice versa, you couldn’t miss the strong bond the two of them have built already.
Tina Williams has only a small number of racehorses in work and keeps them at her property away from the track. All horses are regularly ridden in her arena doing flat work and also go on trail rides. All of that is not just extremely important for the horses balance, ridability and happiness during their racing career, it also sets them up for an easy transition to a life after racing. With all that work done frequently, Tina only spent a short time with Quincy before she was confident the filly will be right and safe to go to her new home. The horsewoman is also committed to help with the education of the pair in future.
This combination is a fabulous example of how versatile and amazing thoroughbreds are! Still so often we hear they are hot, crazy, need experienced riders etc, but here we have a 10-years-old beginner rider and her only 4-years-old fresh off the track thoroughbred filly learning the ropes together! Of course that’s not possible with every OTT but it shows, there is a thoroughbred for absolutely everyone.
Magic Sandy *2019 (Magic Albert x Salinger’s Bow) retired in 2023 with 5 starts with no wins/placings and a total of $3650 in prize money, trained by Tina Williams at Wyong.
